Hi All,

My amateur fireball camera detected a fireball from Sopron, Hungary. I assume it was a relatively bright event if it had so much light to shine through thin clouds even that close to the horizon.
It is possible that other amateurs will also have footages from this event, too.

was well observed by several Allsky7 cameras in Hungary and Italia.

I made a preliminary calculation using the amateur footages that I could acquire, including my own capture.
The quality of these videos isn't great and all of them were far from the event, so the accuracy is very low. Entry velocity was around 21,7 km/s. My end altitude is 35,42 km but neither of the three cameras captured the very end of the event, so it must be lower, maybe below 30. Even if it was a dropper, it probably landed in the Adriatic Sea.

I checked and there are many high quality videos from Croatian GMN cameras, so luckily it is possible to calculate this event with far greater accuracy.

Hello!
Yes, we'll have decent results in a couple of hours.

Anyway, please do not provide any info on such events prior consultation with local networks (if you don't have the contact, ping Denis first), since meteorite hunters are very agile and ready to jump in before any organized search would be organized.

All the best,
Damir

Neither my chrome book nor my windows machine were able to open the .mp4 file and complained about a codec problem and wanted me to pay money. Is there something unusual about this mp4 file that I can't view it in the United States - or is there a program someone would recommend I try.

There is some serious problem with the mp4 video.
While the fireball itself takes 1-2 sec, there is some music in the background which takes over 7 minutes.
Played with MPC-HC (https://mpc-hc.org/), which is still far the best video player.

OK, sorted out.
After a bit less than 5 seconds flight, meteor burned out at around 27.5km, at velocity of about 3km/s - so it seems perhaps some small meteorites (couple tenths of grams at max, in total) ended on the bottom of the Adriatic sea. Solution may be a bit better towards the end part, but nothing that would seriously change the outcome.
All the best,
Damir
