Replacing a working camera

Bob Stricklin

After about a year of operation my camera developed an issue with moisture in the inter lens barrel. I ordered a replacement camera lens which I hope will be the same.

In the meantime, I have a second camera Sony IMX291 on hand and I am trying to just swap out the US002R camera. Is there a list of steps that one should take to do this? I have looked in the Wiki and on old history of groups.io. probably enough info there but not seeing exact list of instructions quickly.

I have already got the replacement camera operating in the exact same location. The lens has changed to an 8 mm and I believe the defective lens is a 6 mm.

The steps I think I should take are:

Change my current .config file with;
upload_enabled: false   (Already taking this step)

Make a new Mask file
Make any needed changes to .config file meta data
Make a new Platepar file
Follow recent instructions from GMS conference.
Observe my results to be sure they seem good.

Change my current .config file with;
upload_enabled: true

In the past Denis has helped me with this but I would like to try to do myself this pass. I also hope to bring up a second camera soon and if I can get US002R working properly I should be able to bring up the new additional camera.

Let me know if I am on the correct track.

Thanks,

if you swap the camera module you will have to
a) rerun the process to configure the new module (video mode, contrast etc). This can be done using the script Scripts/RMS_SetCameraParams.sh or manually using CMS, as explained in the wiki

b) redo the platepar. The camera will almost certainly have moved while you're replacing the module or lens.

c) Focus the camera

It should all be covered here

Mark,

Thanks very much for your reply.

Yes, this is the path I am on.
